A provider connection can fail because the selected provider is unavailable, its credentials or connection are not configured, the chosen model is not usable, or the provider returns an API error. Check these separately before changing the translation content or retrying a large batch.
Confirm the provider and model
- Open Languages → TranslateSense and confirm that the intended provider is enabled and selected.
- Choose a model that belongs to that provider and is available to your account. If the model list or provider status is missing, review the provider setup before testing translation.
- Run a small test translation. Note the complete error message and whether it occurs before the request is sent or after the provider responds.
Check credentials or WordPress AI Connectors
For a provider using a saved API key, verify that the key is present, active, and copied without extra spaces. Check the provider account for access, usage limits, billing status, and model permissions. Do not paste the key into support tickets, screenshots, browser-console messages, or public logs.
When TranslateSense is using a WordPress AI Connector for a provider, open the WordPress AI Connectors screen linked by the plugin and confirm that the provider is connected and its provider plugin is active. A provider that is installed but not connected or active can return a connection error. If the site is not using a connector for that provider, verify the saved TranslateSense provider configuration instead.
Separate provider errors from editor issues
- If the provider is shown as unavailable or disconnected, fix that connection first.
- If the request reaches the provider but fails, record the returned status and message and check the provider account or service status.
- If only one model fails, test another supported model for the same provider, if available.
- If the provider works in a small test but a bulk job fails, check the job status and error details in Monitor Bulk Translation Progress and Why did a bulk translation stop?.
