Why does a translation not appear in the expected language?

If a translation appears under the wrong language, check the source post’s language, the target language selected for the translation, and the translation relationship stored by Polylang. A translated title or translated text alone does not confirm that the target post is assigned to the intended language.

Verify the configured languages

  1. Open the source post and confirm its language in the Polylang language controls.
  2. Open Languages → Languages in WordPress and confirm that the intended target language is configured.
  3. Start the translation from the correct source post and select the intended target language in TranslateSense.
  4. Review the result and open the target post from the reported result or the relevant post list. Confirm that its Polylang language is the intended target language.

For language setup, see Configure Polylang Languages and Set Up Polylang Translation Pairs.

Check the Polylang translation relationship

In the source post’s language controls, check that the target-language entry points to the correct translated post. Open that target post and confirm that its language is set correctly and that the source and target belong to the same translation group.

TranslateSense creates or updates the post for the selected target language and asks Polylang to save the translation relationship. If a translation already exists for that language, TranslateSense may update that existing post instead of creating another one. Check the existing relationship before creating or linking posts manually.

If the language still looks wrong

  • Confirm that you did not start from an existing translation when you intended to translate the original source post.
  • Check the target post’s language and the source post’s translation map in Polylang.
  • Use a small test on a known source post and one target language to see whether the issue is limited to a single post or affects all translations.
  • If the language assignment or translation group is incorrect, correct it through Polylang’s language controls after confirming the intended source and target posts. Keep a record of the post IDs before making changes.

If the editor integration is missing altogether, see Why is TranslateSense not available in the editor?. If a bulk job is pending or failed, see Why is a bulk translation still pending? or Why did a bulk translation stop?.
